This page is all about my journey on The Splendid Sampler
I began this journey on 4/03/2016.
I am going to be using lots and lots of my scraps,
my scrap bins are overflowing....
I am going to be using lots and lots of my scraps,
my scrap bins are overflowing....
There are 100 blocks in the sampler.
Visit The Splendid Sampler for more details.
I will show my mistakes as well as my triumphs...
this journey is all about learning new techniques and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to try new things.
I'm sure that in doing this sampler I will encounter techniques that
I don't know,
haven't tried
or don't really like,
but will give them all a go!
and if I stuff it up, I'll show that too!
So, let the journey begin.
Flimsy top completed on 17/04/2017.
And drumroll!!!! exactly 3 years after starting its done!
Top completed 05/03/2019.
Enjoy the blocks below as I make them....

block 100 Centred by Kate Spain
ok so now to get a layout and start to putting together bit!
all 100 blocks plus the bonus ones I did....
ok I have chosen a beautiful Bali fabric for the sashings,
Nicole my daughter back it from her holiday there (FEB 2017),
it's lovely and soft and I think will be a perfect accent for the scrappiness of the blocks.
one and half inch sashings (one inch finished size) with different coloured cornerstones
first two blocks together to see how it looks....
mega strip piecing underway!
two rows together and third one also complete.
starting at 100 and working my way back to 1 with bonus blocks in between where needed....
10 x 12 layout...
top completed on 17/04/2017!
quilting up next...
machine or hand?????
changed my mind on the 10x12, now it's 11x11
fits the bed better....
still thinking about the quilting....
really leaning towards getting it done for me so it's totally finished!
the backing is here!
Soon it will be off to my favourite quilting person to finish off!
Beautifully quilted by Stars Hollow Quilting...thank you Lisa for a gorgeous job!
binding has been chosen and sewn on....
and that folks is THE LAST STITCH in the binding!
on the bed it goes!
