January has disappeared!

This little cherub is growing quickly,

we got our first smiles while on grandparent duty

(also for the first time!)

this is the flowering gum from last post fully out,
more orange/red than red,
we are off to the nursery to find another RED one!

and this is it!
much more the colour we want,
can't wait to see it fully out!

my tigerlillies are performing well again,
just bought a couple of stems inside to enjoy.

one of the quilts I'm doing this year,
these are the first 8 blocks,
they go together pretty quick,
its the cutting and prepping that takes so long!
nothing new will be bought for this one,
it's a use up the stash project
won't make a dint!

this family of swans decided that it would be a good idea to cross the busy road out the front of where my MIL lives in Pakenham...
they came out of the retirement village (this photo),
waddled up the drive to the traffic lights...

where they proceeded to cross!
my heart was in my mouth literally!
all the traffic stopped for them across 4 lanes.
MIL said they do it all the time!
thankfully it wasn't very busy, usually this road is chaotic!

ok update done, off to do other stuff now!
Hope you have all enjoyed your long weekend
Happy Australia Day everyone!

2024 begins!

Wishing all a very
Happy New Year!
May 2024 be everything you want and more.

Our celebrations were very quiet, I did manage to stay awake until midnight,
watching a show on Paramount ...
we spent Christmas day at home with most of the family,
and Boxing day with the rest...

lunch was pretty simple,
Roast Pork (in the airfryer, gamechanger!),
roast turkey and pumpkin, carrots and spuds,
sliced ham, peas and corn and bread sticks,
made a pavlova
and tried one of those Coles chocolate sponge with chocolate and orange sauce (very rich!)

and this is the reason we had a quiet one...
introducing Sophie Fay
born 29/11/2023

spent a couple of days in my favourite place,
moon rise on Friday... brilliant orange!

and the decorations my sister had assembled!

cut my orange tree back a bit as we couldn't reach the top branches,
3 bags of fruit came off the cut branches,
orange cake,
orange juice,
some oranges going to work,
some going to a friend,
lots left over....

and this beauty has made her maiden appearance today...
can't wait for the whole lot to come out properly,
think she is going to be a stunner!

just sorting out a new project I'm going to attempt.

Got this book and calendar many years ago,
decided that I will do the blocks out of the book this year,
one block per week=52 blocks in book,
that shouldn't be too hard to keep up with? fingers crossed!

ok back to it!
